About Photography by Neil Bookman
My interest in photography goes back as far as I can remember. I always enjoyed looking at the photographs in various books and magazines when I was a child. In my teen years I started shooting 35mm black and white film, learned to process it, and printed photographs in my home-built darkroom.
At the University of Miami, I earned a degree in Photography and Communications. After college I worked brief stints as a newspaper photographer, baby photographer, and freelance advertising photographer. But the need to make more "serious" money eventually led me away from photography and into various other careers.
Photography was always still there, lurking in the background. For the next decade or so, my subjects were family and trip-oriented, but they kept a camera in my hands.
I got back into more serious photography about 10 years ago when I received my first digital camera as a gift from my wife. The digital age has opened up endless possibilities for me. Now I can process photographs in a computer, without the need for a darkroom. I embrace digital photography, and have never looked back.
So here, after 35 years of evolution as a photographer, is my website. This site is a continuous work in progress and I hope you will return often to enjoy my photographs.
